Clinical Trial

A clinical trial is a research procedure to investigate potential outcomes and effects of medical products, devices, and lifestyle interventions. Its purpose is to determine the effectiveness and safety of a new device or product through evaluating health outcomes in study participants; i.e., is it more/less safe (from harmful side effects) and more/less effective than the current or standard treatment.

Clinical trials are one piece of the puzzle to providing sufficient clinical data and evidence for regulatory compliance purposes.
